The World Food Programme is the United Nations agency established in 1961 that provides food assistance and is the world’s largest humanitarian organization. The agency assists an average of 87 million people in 83 countries around the world. With 1,300 employees at its Rome headquarters, WFP houses several facilities and staff services with a focus on health and well-being.
The Rome headquarters of the WFP decided to LEED® certify four buildings, with a total area of 1,450 m2 that house, respectively, a nursery (Child care), a supermarket (Commissary), a meeting center (Meeting center) and an office space (Red Tower).
The LEED®-certified meeting center (Meeting center) has increased the organization’s meeting capacity, facilitating the hosting of events and trainings at the WFP headquarters. The facility is highly functional and flexible for various uses. The capacity is 75 people.

Commissioning is a prerequisite for LEED®, the main purpose of which is to ensure that buildings and facilities are designed, constructed, and delivered to clients according to clear and well-defined criteria.
